While Hungarian pork prices are lower than the EU average, the prices of beef-cattle are still higher. Pork prices have been decreasing in parallel with the prices of the Continent for more than six months. The proportion of imported pigs is still near 30 percent and still increasing, while their price is 6 to 7 percent lower than that of the Hungarian ones. The
process is perceivable in all phases of the pork product-path, because the prices in the fi rst ten weeks of the year were lower than in the same period last year. The process price of the side of pork decreased by 12 percent, pork chops by 6 percent and the leg of pork by 3 percent. However it is still a question what is expected in the remaining months of the year.
